Hexagons on Steroids

A few days ago I was on Amy Butler's free pattern website and saw a quilt made of these huge hexagons and WOW did I get excited. You know how I am about hexagons. I downloaded the pattern, complete with templates and thought I can do this sooooo much easier. Using what I learned from doing One Block Wonder quilts I made this. At the widest point it is 25 inches.

Each strip is cut 4 1/4 inches wide and I used the 60 degree angle on my 24 inch ruler to cut the triangles. Now I am shopping for some fun big print fabrics to make a modern hexagon quilt. The way I put these together will be fast and easy.

Bed Caddy for Granddaughter

Abbi, my granddaughter, is celebrating her 8th birthday this evening and I have made her a bedside caddy with some goodies in the pockets. The caddy back flap fits between the 2 mattresses on the side of the bed with the 6 pockets within easy reach. I placed a couple of books with book light, writing journal with pens and pencils, kleenex, and hand lotion in the pockets and she has room for remotes and even her pajamas. It is made with batik fabrics and pellon 987 fusible fleece for stiffness. Easy guess on her favorite color!!!
